Our new site launch, My Neighbourhoods, has been reviewed over at TechCrunch UK. Sam Sethi dubs it “community networking”, which describes what we are trying to do with My Neighbourhoods perfectly. Like Sam, a couple of other users mentioned the subscription charge as a barrier to entry. As a result of this feedback, we’ve removed the subscription fee so My Neighbourhoods is completely free! The idea is to develop My Neighbourhoods into exactly what users want from a “community networking” site.

I’m happy to say we’ve just launched our first foray into social networking. My Neighbourhoods is a UK-based online community that provides members with an easy way of getting to know their neighbours and people in the area they live, as well as finding out more about a local area and selling online through classifieds listings. The site aims to make both the online and physical community a bit more neighbourly.

The site has launched in open beta (meaning there may be a few small bugs). By launching this way we are hoping our users will drive the development and functionality by telling us what they want for future releases. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions.
